Amsterdam Cardiovascular Sciences

Objective  

The aim of these grants is to allow PhD candidates and postdoctoral researchers to receive training in new techniques (both preclinical and clinical) or to initiate collaboration with a research institute abroad. Both grant recipients and ACS should benefit from these work visits. For the grant recipients, the new techniques should improve their research, and the international experience will strengthen their CV and help with future grant applications. For ACS, the benefits include expansion of the international network and the acquisition of new technologies.  

Who can apply?  

ACS* PhD candidates and Postdocs who will perform research abroad for 2 to 5 months and will return to Amsterdam UMC and remain there for a minimum of six months.   

*affiliated in PURE with ACS and one of the four ACS research programs. 

Budget

Max 5.000€ per application depending on the length of the stay (1.000€ per month). 

Criteria  

• Cover letters of both Amsterdam UMC department PI and host department need to be included in the application. 
• In case a work visit grant is obtained somewhere else on the research project in this proposal, the applicant will no longer meet the criteria for the ACS work visit grant.
• Applicants can only receive the ACS work visit grant once.
• ACS will be acknowledged for its financial support in presentations and publications on the research performed abroad. 
• Within 3 months after returning to Amsterdam UMC, a final report on your work visit should be send to acs@amsterdamumc.nl.
• Project should start between May 2025 – September 2025 (first round applicants) or September 2025 – May 2026 (second round applicants).

Selection 

The research in the proposal should be in line with ACS, one of the four research programs or innovations . 

The proposal will be scored by internal review committee on the following points: 
- Quality of the proposal (30%) 
- Quality of the CV (30%) 
- Alignment with ACS (20%)
- Novelty of the collaboration and method/technique to Amsterdam UMC (20%)
