Marlies Visser went on a work visit to the Menstruation Research Conference 2026, Brighton and Sussex Medical School, Brighton, United Kingdom, from July 6 to 9, 2026.
"Menstrual health plays a crucial role in women's wellbeing and reproductive health, yet remains underrepresented in (global) public health research, a gap that my research aims to help address.
During this work visit, I attended the Menstruation Research Conference at the Brighton and Sussex Medical School (UK), where I presented findings from the ABCD and OMEGA cohorts on sociodemographic and psychosocial inequalities in menstrual health, including menstrual pain, heavy menstrual bleeding and irregular cycles.
The conference broadened my perspective on current menstrual health research, inspired new opportunities for future studies and collaborations, and strengthened my international scientific network."
