Focus of research
I am a bioinformatician, specialising in data and knowledge integration in omics and bioimaging. I was involved in defining the FAIR Principles (describing how data should be Findable, Accessible, Interoperable and Reusable), and my research focuses on developing methods and infrastructure for FAIR and reproducible life science research.
I lead the Data Hub of the Amsterdam UMC Advanced Compute and Data Core (ACDC) group. ACDC is an interdisciplinary team of data stewards, researchers and data engineers. We are developing a novel research infrastructure, to enable integrative multi-omics and visual omics research approaches that are FAIR by design and AI-ready, from data generated at the Amsterdam UMC Core facilities in omics and bioimaging.
At the national level, I lead the data and analysis nodes of the NL-Bioimaging and EMPower Large Scale Research Infrastructures.
