Focus of research
I am a postdoctoral researcher and educational advisor at Amsterdam UMC, Department of Medicine for Older People. My mission is to improve the quality of care for individuals with complex care needs in both nursing homes and community care settings. Central to my research is the essential role of nursing professionals, whose expertise and dedication are essential for ensuring high-quality care and enhancing the quality of life for older adults.
My ambition is not only to contribute to evidence-based research, but also to drive the dissemination and implementation of this knowledge in practice and education. By empowering current and future healthcare professionals, I strive to foster sustainable improvements in care.
My research focuses on:
• Early detection of acute care needs in community care;
• Delivering nursing home care at home for individuals with long-term care needs;
• Promoting interprofessional and transmural collaboration among community care nurses, general practitioners, elderly care physicians, and hospital specialists;
• Early recognition of palliative care needs in geriatric rehabilitation;
• De-implementation of low-value care in nursing homes.
By integrating practice, education, and research, I aim to make a meaningful impact on the care of older people.
