General

The (updated) Consolidated Framework for Implementation Research (CFIR) describes determinants (barriers and facilitators) in implementation processes. In this journal club we discuss the paper “Evaluation of a multifaceted implementation strategy for semi-automated surveillance of surgical site infections after total hip or knee arthroplasty: a multicentre pilot study in the Netherlands” as an example of how CFIR can be applied in research.

Interesting questions to discuss may be:

  • Why would you choose for CFIR (Damschroder et al., 2009) or the updated version of CFIR (Damschroder et al., 2022)?
  • How to present determinants in your paper?
  • What are considerations to use this framework to guide data collection (e.g. interview guide), or data analysis (deductive analysis)?
