Antimation for science workshop by Marcel Jansen, PhD from Ziehoe
Increasingly in science, animations are being used to break down and simplify complex messages. Science is a field where animations are particularly useful and powerful, because the scientific message is often hidden from human eyes or difficult to comprehend.
Graphics can often communicate scientific concepts more efficiently than words, for any audience. In science, animations can be specially useful in your presentations, visual abstracts and videopitch for grant proposals.
This course will teach the tools and methods needed to create simple animations (GIFs) that can be used for science communication. We will discuss the utility and the value of GIFs in science and science education.
In this course we will give a straightforward approach on how you can create simple Gifs using Adobe illustrator and photoshop.
The course is divided into four parts:
1) Discuss animations and in particular GIFs. This part includes a short introduction to animated GIFs and the utility and the value of animation in science and science education. We will discuss how it can be used in e.g. presentations, infographics and visual abstracts to capture and hold the viewer's attention.
2) Learn the tools and workflow that can be used to create simple animated GIFs using Adobe illustrator and photoshop.
3) Create our own animated GIF
4) Watch and discuss the animated GIFs.
The course will be given by Marcel Jansen, PhD from Ziehoe (www.ziehoe.com). He has a background in biomedical science.
Registration is FREE of charge and limited to 25 people. You will be notified by email a few days after signing up whether you are registered or placed on a waiting list. This event is sponsored by HR and Research Office.
