Amsterdam Public Health x ACE Program: Develop your entrepreneurial skills & explore innovative impact strategies!
The program aims to enlighten and provide examples of (societal impact) entrepreneurship and innovation in the Public Health sector, as well as a practical guidance for coming up with an idea, developing your business model, and pitching your idea to a jury panel. Using an interactive approach, the course offers the opportunity to learn from seasoned speakers within the Public Health sector to inspire you to become an entrepreneur yourself!
The course is a combination of lectures and interactive workshops covering the first steps of entrepreneurship: from future trends in the digitalization of health, to idea generation, to validation. Participants will be pre-matched in teams of 3-4. Each team will work on their business idea, which preferably (but not necessarily) is based on an opportunity/innovation from your own research (product, service, process etc).
At the end of day 2, the participants will get the opportunity to pitch their business idea in a “Dragon’s Den” format to a jury panel and they will award EUR 500 to the team with the best pitch based on the following criteria:
- Pitch delivery (33%)
- Societal impact of the idea (33%)
- Viability of the idea (33%)
Key learnings:
After completing the program, we are confident that you will:
- Have an understanding of the first steps in venture building (idea generation, validation, business modelling, commercialization, and more)
- Learn about the technological digital future trends in the Public Health Sector
- Gain insights on startup collaboration opportunities with relevant stakeholders
- Learn how to structure and deliver your best pitch
- Get inspired and learn from entrepreneurs to get you started!
This will help you understand the different possibilities that the entrepreneurial ecosystem can offer you and to approach your research from a more entrepreneurial perspective.
Preparations:
Participants are encouraged to come up with a business idea before the course starts. Possible idea sources: your own research (product, service, process, etc), a need/gap identified in the market, etc. However, you don’t need to have an idea to participate - you will be challenged to come up with one during the program!
Prize:
During the pitch competition on Day 2 the jury panel will select the winning team who will receive a EUR 500 prize for the best pitch (based on the aforementioned criteria).
Attendance:
Upon completion of this course, you will receive a certificate of attendance for your (PhD) trajectory.
