Focus of research

Fariba Ahmadizar, PharmD, MSc, PhD in Epidemiology, is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Primary Care (HAG) at Amsterdam UMC, where she leads research projects in diabetes precision medicine.

Research and Academic Contributions
Dr. Ahmadizar’s research focuses on biomarker discovery in cardiometabolic diseases, with particular emphasis on integrating omics data (including genomics and metabolomics), clinical and environmental risk factors, and drug response to advance precision medicine and public health. She serves as a Principal Investigator on multiple national and international initiatives and consortia, reflecting her strong commitment to advancing translational research. She is currently the Principal Investigator of the NeuroSync project, funded by the Joint Programme – Neurodegenerative Disease Research (JPND), which investigates the role of glucose dysregulation in dementia progression.

She has secured and contributed to numerous fellowships and research grants and has extensive experience supervising postdoctoral researchers, PhD candidates, and MSc students.

In addition to her research activities, Dr. Ahmadizar is actively engaged in teaching and academic coordination. She coordinates the Molecular Pharmacoepidemiology course at various Dutch institutions and holds the University Teaching Qualification (BKO), underscoring her dedication to high-quality education and academic excellence.

She is also actively involved in the scientific community, organizing and coordinating pre-conference courses, serving as an international scientific coordinator, and contributing as a reviewer for multiple peer-reviewed journals, as well as an evaluator for EU Horizon grant applications.
