ACS researchers Femke Rutters and Hilde Herrema were granted a Senior Fellowship by the Dutch Diabetes Research Foundation.

Dr. Femke Rutters, from the department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics, location VUmc, received the fellowship for her project entitled: ‘Effects of irregular sleep timing on glucose metabolism and insulin sensitivity’. 

Dr. Hilde Herrema, from the department of Experimental Vascular Medicine, location AMC, will study 'Bacteriophages as drivers of gut microbiome composition/function and type 2 diabetes'.              

The Senior Fellowships are available for senior researchers at postdoc level who have the ambition to further their career in diabetes research and are close to starting their own research group. The fellowship is worth up tp 325.000 euros for a maximum of 4 years. Each year, the Diabetes Fonds aims to support two Diabetes Fonds Senior Fellowships.
