General

In July and August two neuro-anatomy courses will be held at King's College London for postgraduate students. The courses will be held over the weekends and will last two days. Prior to the in day part of the courses, attendees will have access to 8 online preparatory modules.

The Human Brain Anatomy Course is a highly popular introductory course to structural, functional, clinical and radiological neuroanatomy for neuroscience, psychology and medicine. The includes online preparatory modules and hands-on experience with human brain specimens. This course is also easily accessible for those with minimal prior knowledge.

The weekend course combines topographical, functional and radiological (MRI) anatomy. The approach for this courses emphasizes understanding over rote learning to provide a solid three-dimensional understanding of the human brain. The lecture programme provides a firm grasp of the three-dimensional structure of the brain with clinical and functional integration.

After registration you will have access to online preparatory modules:

  • Overview of the human brain - part 1 and 2
  • Brain development and anatomy
  • Motor and sensory areas of the cerebral cortex
  • History of the limbic system
  • Anatomy of memory and emition (limbic lobe, hippocampus, amygdala)
  • Anatomy review - using a detailed brain model
  • Consolidation - coronal sections of the human brain

During the two day course you will get 'hands on' during the highly popular practical element with preserverd human brain specimens. This component includes live video demonstrations of human brain anatomy via monitors troughout the dissection room.
