Yuwei Qi went on a work visit to the 23rd IAGG world congress of gerontology and geriatrics: Ageing well in a globalised world, from July 5 to 8, 2026.
"It was a true privilege to attend the 23rd IAGG World Congress. Since it only takes place every four years, I felt I had a lot to catch up on, and the congress delivered: intense (in the best way), inspiring, and full of opportunities. I presented a poster and a symposium session, learned a lot from both, and genuinely enjoyed every discussion I had. Some encounters were special in a different way: I finally met collaborators in real life with whom I had written papers but never been in the same room, and I got to speak with influential scholars in my field. The congress was also eye-opening beyond my own topic. My favourite session, by a Japanese group, showed how you can integrate cultural elements into daily practice and build an inclusive dementia community. And I discovered that research can also be fun, like a poster I spotted reviewing cat ownership and daily caregiving tasks. Many thanks to ALL and APH for making this possible!"
