Eva van der Linden, was awarded the prestigious Fulbright research grant, allowing her to visit the National Institutes of Health, Bethesda, USA. She will visit the Center for Research on Genomics and Global Health to learn more about epigenetics in African populations.

APH researcher Eva van der Linden is PhD candidate on the RODAM study, a unique transcontinental cohort study aiming to elucidate factors causing cardiovascular diseases in African migrants residing in Europe and non-migrants in sub-Saharan Africa. During her three-month stay at Center for Research on Genomics and Global Health, she will be trained in analysing epigenetic data, hereby aiming to unravel causes underlying the high burden of hypertension among African origin populations.

She received the Fulbright research grant during a special ceremony in the US Embassy on June 8th, in the presence of officials from the Dutch and American government, Fulbright staff and alumni. The Fulbright Program was founded 75 years ago, and its primary objective is the creation of educational exchange programs in order to promote mutual understanding between Dutch and Americans citizens.
