Are you a senior researcher at Amsterdam Public Health (APH)? Would you like to use your expertise to help stimulate and strengthen high-quality scientific practices within the APH research institute? APH is seeking a senior researcher to join the Scientific Quality Committee (SQC). This is a voluntary position and an excellent opportunity to contribute to scientific quality and integrity at an institute-wide level.
About the Scientific Quality Committee
Promoting continuous improvement in scientific quality is one of the core objectives of APH and its research programs. The mission of the Scientific Quality Committee (SQC) is to support this objective by advising the APH Board on scientific quality policy and by contributing to committee-led activities, including:
- Organizing, facilitating and promoting Research Quality Meetings, which bring together researchers to discuss research-related topics and exchange best practices to enhance scientific quality.
- Maintaining the APH Research Quality Handbook: an online resource providing guidance on values, principles, norms, and best practices throughout the research life cycle.
The committee currently consists of six senior researchers, supported by a policy officer from the APH support staff.
Responsibilities and tasks
As a member of the SQC, you will:
- Develop strategies and activities to promote and support high scientific quality practices within APH
- Advise the APH Board of Directors on scientific quality policy by monitoring, mapping, and documenting scientific quality-related aspects within the institute
- Contribute to the organization, content and facilitation of Research Quality Meetings
- Contribute to the maintenance and further development of the APH Research Quality Handbook
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of the committee’s processes and ways of working
Requirements
- You are a senior APH researcher (from Assistant Professor level onwards)
- You enjoy contributing to collaborative outcomes
- You have affinity with or expertise in scientific quality and integrity topics (e.g. Open Science, FAIR principles, pre-registration)
- You are available for quarterly meetings and occasional ad-hoc meetings, including preparation time
- You are able and willing to switch between operational, tactical, and strategic levels
