Since the 1st of October, Amsterdam UMC has one joint Biobank Assessment Committee.
If you want to set up a biobank or use materials from one of the existing biobanks for research, you must have the application assessed by a review committee. The Biobank Assessment Committee of the AMC location (BTC) and the Biobank Assessment Committee of the VUmc location (TcB) are now joining forces and will continue as the Biobank Assessment Committee of Amsterdam UMC (in Dutch: Commissie Toetsing Biobanken - CTB). The CTB falls under the responsibility of the Medical Review Ethics Committees (MRECs).
