As a physiotherapist and human movement scientist, Marike has extensive experience in rehabilitation and allied health care through her work as a researcher at Reade - revalidatie & reumatologie and Amsterdam UMC.
Marike shares:"I am honoured to have been appointed as professor of Allied health care across the hospital care pathway at the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine of Amsterdam UMC. Around a hospital admission, patients can quickly lose muscle strength, fitness and independence, with major consequences for their daily functioning. This calls for care that optimally prepares patients for treatment, limits deterioration during admission and sustainably supports recovery – and allied health professionals play a key role in this.
With this chair, I aim to strengthen and connect research lines in this field, and to translate scientific knowledge into daily practice. I look forward to collaborating with researchers and clinicians within and outside Amsterdam UMC to further develop this field, with the shared goal of providing person-centred recovery care."
Congratulations to Marike on her appointment!
