Funding for two research projects on sensory overloadThe Dutch Brain Foundation is investing almost three million euros in two new research projects at Amsterdam UMC on sensory overload. Amsterdam Neuroscience researchers Brigit de Jong and Hilgo Bruining formed consortia from Amsterdam UMC and partners. Together, they will investigate exactly what sensory overload is, how it can be measured, and how care for people with these symptoms can be improved.
Meet the newly appointed Principal Investigators of Amsterdam NeuroscienceIn Dutch academia, Principal Investigators (PIs) are expected to take on leadership roles, establish independent research lines, and build their visibility. Our PIs demonstrate scientific vision, build strong research teams, and mentor the next generation of talented researchers. They secure funding to drive discoveries and advance new treatments in the field of neuroscience. Amsterdam Neuroscience proudly congratulates the newly appointed PIs of 2026.
Neuronal resilience to tau aggregation by granulovacuolar degeneration vesiclesResearchers from the Molecular Neurodegeneration and Functional Genomics laboratory of Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam and Amsterdam UMC have published a study on neuronal resilience in relation to tau pathology in the journal Science Advances. Their work describes a previously unknown intrinsic resilience mechanism that protects neurons against tau aggregation.
