The Amsterdam Cohort Hub (ACH) is dedicated to improve the infrastructure for longitudinal cohort studies in the Amsterdam region and to increase the impact of these studies in order to benefit the health of the population and society at large.
Every four weeks, ACH organizes a webinar to present our cohort-studies and discuss themes relevant for cohort studies, their staff and researchers. This fall, we have scheduled the following webinars:
Thursday November 14, 16:00 – 16:45
- The NMCB cohort study, by Jos Bosch
- Cohort Support as an art, by Meriem Manaï
The NMCB cohort study, by Jos Bosch
ME/CFS, also known as chronic fatigue syndrome, can have serious and long-lasting consequences, but much is still unclear about this disease. Doctors do not yet agree on the characteristics, causes, treatment or even the name of the disease. Thanks to a ZonMw grant, Amsterdam UMC started new biomedical research into ME/CFS, officially called the 'Dutch ME/CFS Cohort- and Biobank (NMCB) Consortium'. Jos Bosch, researcher at the University of Amsterdam and Amsterdam UMC, leads along with more than 20 partners, the hunt for answers to the following questions: What exactly happens in the body of patients? How can the diagnosis be improved? And what might be effective treatments?
Cohort Support as an art, by Meriem Manaï
In cohort studies, effective research support is essential to address the complex needs of researchers. Collaboration between researchers and support services plays a pivotal role in identifying these needs and enhancing the efficiency of support services. By fostering open communication, common cohort-related challenges can be addressed, and tailored solutions can be developed. This collaboration ensures that researchers receive timely and relevant assistance, enabling them to focus on producing high-quality research while institutional infrastructure evolves to meet their evolving needs.
Thursday December 12, 16:00 – 16:45
- The ABCD cohort study, by Tanja Vrijkotte
- Data harmonization: the case of NCDC, by Magdalena Beran
