Mentoring program

How to improve my CV? How to keep a good work/life balance? How do I know if I am suited for academia? What other options are there beyond an academic career? As part of the mentoring program you can provide and receive advice, support and guidance on work-related issues to researchers across all Amsterdam Research Institutes at different stages of their career.

Postdocs can sign up as mentees to someone further along in their academic career to discuss matters related to career development. At the same time postdocs can be a mentor to PhD candidates to share their acquired insights.. After matching, mentees are encouraged to contact their mentor to plan their one-to-one meeting. Mentoring meetings take place 4-6 times per academic year.

Researchers can sign up as a mentee and/or mentor from now until October 1st 2025 and will get matched in October. Two kick-off meetings will take place on October 27th (at AMC) and on October 30th (at VUMC), after which the mentoring meetings can begin. A workshop about mentorship or an important theme for mentor-mentee conversations will be organized.

If you want to stay matched with your current mentor/mentee in the next academic year, please let the mentoring program team know via mentoringprogram@amsterdamumc.nl, latest October 1st, 2025. If you are a mentor and have room for more mentees, or if you are a mentee and would like to be matched with a new mentor, please sign up using the registration form latest October 1st, 2025.

Registration for 2025 is open now!
