Nominations for academic prizes and awards

In collaboration with the Amsterdam UMC Research Institutes, the Research Policy Office supports nominations of researchers and research teams for several external academic prizes and awards.

RPO also supports the yearly awarding of the Amsterdam UMC Societal Impact Award.

Candidates

We are looking for candidates across all research career stages who are exceptional because of e.g.:

  • their unique contribution to the field;
  • exceptional performance by the standards of the field;
  • out of the box research;
  • societal impact;
  • valorisation;
  • contribution to education/training;
  • changing perspectives on science and/or society;
  • contribution to research policy;
  • role model to students/early career researchers;
  • science communication;
  • contribution to public debate;
  • and so on.

How to apply?

Potential candidates for such awards can be suggested to the associated Research Institute(s) or fill in the application form directly (a preview version to assist preparation of the required information can be found here). The application form is open all year round. Once a year, in the autumn, all registrations are collected and the pre-selections for the coming calendar year are prepared. The selections for most of the awards are made at the beginning of the calendar year, so this often happens before the call for nominations opens.

Besides filling out the application forms, we strongly encourage candidates to make sure their PURE profile is up to date.

The application form can also be used to pre-nominate a colleague.
